My Approach
EMPATHY

I believe that the quality of a woman's life is every bit as important as the clinical outcome of her treatment. My team strives to understand how our patient views her condition: How does it impact - or interfere - with her life? We strive to provide exceptional care for each patient, so as to best improve her condition and her quality of life.

CARE

The all-female staff at our Pelvic Health and Continence Center of Trinity Health West Urogynecology will help every woman to better understand her condition and pursue a course of treatment, all while providing clear council and compassionate care. My staff are integral in delivering our comprehensive care.

As a continuation of this goal, I have instituted a landmark program for my overactive bladder (OAB) patients. A patient navigator is available. A well-trained patient navigator is someone who helps to keep patient's treatment goals and care on track. Unaffordable medications, worsening symptoms, other life obligations and/or stressors can often derail continued care. The navigator is available to help guide patient along the care plan that we have set up together such that if the treatment plan is not working small changes can be made, questions answered or assistance given.

UNDERSTANDING

Many women feel vulnerable when sharing embarrassing and sensitive experiences related to their pelvic health condition. Dr. Thompson is the only female urologist fellowship trained in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery in West and Northern Michigan.
